Frequently asked questions on Silk Saree

Can a Silk Saree be kept folded for many months?
No, A Silk Saree should not be folded for many months at a stretch, because there is a huge chance of getting teared in the fold. However, it can be opened and refolded in different ways and portion to avoid wear and tear of the saree on the fold.

Can a Silk Saree be kept in a hanger or folded in a safe place like boards?
There is no such restrictions. It can be kept in a hanger and cupboards.

Can a silk saree be washed in a washing machine?
No, it should be handwashed only or can be given to well known reputed laundry for dry cleaning.

Can a Silk Saree be washed with a detergent Soap?
No, We should not use any strong detergent soap or powder. The saree may lose its color.We can use shikakai powder which is very good option,if you don't have shikakai powder use any mild shampoo.

Can a Silk Saree be Ironed or Pressed?
Yes. It can be Ironed or pressed with mild heat. Be careful or avoid sprinkling water while ironing, there are greater chances of water marks.

What Color can i choose while selecting the silk sarees?
Meroon, Green, Yellow are the standard colors. It depends upon the choice of the consumers, there are double shaded sarees which changes colors while looking at different angles.

Can a Silk Saree be washed after wearing it once?
No. The durability and life of the Saree will significantly come down after every wash,so a silk saree can be
washed after 5 wears. After wearing it each time, before folding the Saree it should be kept hanging open in air.

Can a deodorant & fragrance be applied on a Saree?
Yes. But make sure that it does not affect your body.  Also, there are some fragrances that may affect the texture of the sarees and causes Permanent strains. Try to apply it at the inner side of the sarees before applying it.

Can a Mehendi affect silk saree?
Yes. Don't wear a silk saree while applying mehendi in your hand. After cleaning your mehendi then you can wear a Silk Saree, otherwise mehendi color will create a strain in your silk saree.

Can I buy a Silk Saree with blouse or without blouse?
There are Silk Sarees with Blouse and without Blouse. For simple Silk Sarees, standard matching color or contrasting colored blouse are available in the market. For Designer Sarees and double shaded colors there may not be matching blouse. Its recommended to buy it along with Saree.
